My favorite type of couples are the ones who don’t realize how beautiful they truly are; then I get to show them and see their eyes light up. It makes me hope that what I do helps people to see themselves as God sees them. When we look at ourselves often all we see is our own distorted perception of who we are and what we look like, but when God sees us he sees his creation. He sees the hairs that he placed, the eyes that he painted, and the smiles that he crafted oh so carefully. Yeah. If I can help someone to see themselves as He sees them, THEN I’ve done my job.

Perfect Pre-Christmas Proposal {Lexington, Ky. Proposal Photographer}

Guys are starting to learn that you get mega-bonus points with the future fiancé by hiring a photographer to come document the proposals they spend so many hours planning for the ones they love so much.  This particular fella, Michael, went to great lengths creating an incredible scavenger hunt ending at Southland Christian Church, where they both serve.  At the final location, he had a friend playing their song on guitar while she went to the 3 stations that each had a special canvas with photos from key moments in their relationship and a letter with a message from him.  They then led to the front stage, where Michael revealed himself, spoke some very special words, dropped to one knee, then rose again knowing that he would never again be apart from her.  He even had her parents come in so that they could be there to celebrate with them 🙂 Well done Michael, And congratulations to you and Kristen both. I look forward to shooting the wedding!

Loralyn’s Gonna Graduate! {Wilmore Ky. High School Senior Portraits}

Senior portraits are some of my absolute favorite things to shoot.  I love getting to show the expressions and personality of amazing students like Loralyn.  The youth and energy of students is part of why I got my teaching degree, and since I don’t get to experience it in the classroom, it’s refreshing to be able to capture it with my camera.

Now Showing: Ben and Anne Engagement! {Lexington KY. Engagement Photography}

Every couple has a back-story.  Like any good movie, the more you know about the characters, the more you care about them.  Anne and Ben shared with me that they met for the first time at a bonfire.  How romantic is that!?  The stars in the sky and the firelight flickering across the faces of friends laughing and enjoying the night is apparently a combo that leads to engagement, and eventually marriage.  So to spice up their engagement shoot, we stopped at a nice place in downtown Lexington called Wine + Market to get a bottle of wine and a couple cute images, then headed out to the farm for a bonfire to help tell their story appropriately.  The more info I have about you, the more fun your shoot can be 🙂
